Last night Celebrations Catering helped the Cancer Center at North Florida Regional Medical Center host their “Think Pink” dinner program.  Over 125 guests attended the hospital’s ”free” dinner and program to hear a group of expert panelists discuss technology and treatment advances in breast cancer.  Some of the speakers included Judy Yancey, Patricia Goldblatt, Peter Sarantos, Cherylle Hayes, Laura Dickerson and Jason Rosenberg.  Everything from radiology and pathology, to breast reconstruction was discussed at last night’s beautiful PINK event, educating the female attendees and their families with overall everything you should know about breast health… by expert physicians.

The event was held in the lobby of the NEW Cancer Center off Newberry Road, across from the Oaks Mall.  Amber Miller was the coordinator of this event, who after several events together lets me and Celebrations design and execute an event creatively.  We were happy to make last night’s dinner beautiful and delicious!  Gaining a client’s trust and executing each event to the fullest is what signifies the event planning services and the menu design at Celebrations as unique.  Thank you Amber!

Thank you Elizabeth Zipper and all of the folks at UF Pharmacy for allowing Celebrations Catering to be a part of this year’s 16th Annual Ken Finger Memorial CE Program.  Arriving in the dark this morning at the UF Golf Course, the setting was serene and the weather was cool.  You trusted us to start set up of this 100-person event without you, and that’s what we like!… your confidence in our staff, in our planning, and our catering skills!

We set up for a 7:30 am breakfast for the ContinuingEd Program, then added a Grilled Hamburger and Fries luncheon, cooking the food  right there beside the lovely manicured greens, and finished off tonight with some more grill action that included steak!  By the time we served the chocolate melted lava cakes after dinner, the cool breeze had returned and the evening completed another perfect day of successful catering and successful golfing and fund-raising.  In between all this hearty eating of Celebrations’ food, the Pharmacy Departments’ Alumni, Friends, and Staff actually completed the Golf Scramble, received Awards, and fun was had by all.

Let me also mention that today’s catering service was presented with a “green” theme, supplying all corn-based and sugar-based dinnerware for each meal.   That’s more than several hundred plates, cups, forks and knives of a biodegradable nature, that won’t clog our landfills!    The “natural” outdoor setting was also complimented  with the table theming and selection of natural wood chairs and burlap & ivory linens, organic props and not so much tailgate blue and orange decor.

The Kitchen Prepares the Lava Cakes for Dessert!

The end of September, we’re showing off our stuff one last time at the end of Summer.  Me and the crew showed up at 6am last Sunday, wanting to get a head start with our set up before the other vendors crowded the area, and before the heat became unbearable.  I just love arriving for set ups early in the mornings, starting the day fresh and  first. To me, this sets the tone for a positive attitude for the rest of the day.  Working a wedding show on Sunday, our only day off from catering, just to do more catering, unpaid, doesn’t exactly come easy, so all positive thoughts are necessary to give of our time, energy and product when it’s optional.

Several hundred brides came to see the many wedding vendors, and we always get a big crowd as we are giving away food.  Our highlight at this show was being able set up outside by the fountain, rather than being confined to an 8′ space inside.  However, we did rent one of those booths as well, for our two event planners to disuss renting Villa East.  With a new venue to explain to everyone, we thought the air-conditioned lobby would fare better than the food display, fountain-side chaos that happens when free beef is being carved for guests.

We received nothing but gratitude for our food and our staff.  We offered free lunch to all of the vendors, as they are often busy at their own sales booth and can’t get away for lunch.  This treat was a big hit, and I got to speak with many of them, away from the crowd.

Here’s some pictures of the Wedding Show vendors and set up:
