Guests were given oriental fans for cooling offSylvia and Mark planned a lovely backyard wedding, nestled in the shady oaks, letting nature be the theme.  Their home is very warm and welcoming, so we included lots of their eclectic style in the reception.  Friends and family arrived for the ceremony early, and enjoyed mimosas and appetizers before the 11am wedding, making everyone mingle and feel comfortable right from the start.  Harp music, then later a live band, made the summer atmosphere enjoyable, while guests tried foods from four of the different stations, including a beautiful cranberry-orange glazed country ham, Celebrations’ signature grits, fresh fruit, and potato wedges fried to order.  The wedding cake was made by Jenny Wagner, and the flowers by the bride and her sister.

Eastside High School offers the prestegious International Baccalaureate program, and recently celebrated their upcoming graduates at the Phillips Center.  Parents on the planning committee hired Celebrations Catering, once again this year, to cater the end-of-year  congratulations party.  Lisa Tumarkin and Liza Cullen (proud IB parents) rely heavily on the expertise of Celebrations Catering to set an international theme at their annual IB function.  Last year’s event was held at the Museum of Natural History, and was a big hit!  This year we moved the event to the Phillips Center, and the evening social was even more fun.  Jay’s Entertainment provided international dance music and we served the guests food from various regions, including Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America.  With a very international group of very smart students, an enticing display of worldly food and colorful decor was a must.  Thank you EHS for having Celebrations involved in your event again this year.  And, congratulations to the 112 IB students who met the stringent requirements for the special IB diploma, recognized in 75 different countries

Celebrations Catering decorated Villa East last Saturday for Danika & Carmine’s 1960’s theme wedding.  Some of the fun props included vintage furniture and props in a creative homemade photo booth, complete with vintage fabric back drop, red beaded curtains and pop culture art pin-ons and light fixtures.  There were period magazines on the cocktail tables and period display pieces throughout the wedding.  What really made the wedding fun was the live band and the red/white/aqua linens….not to mention the bar was serving martinis and the guests were all in costume!  Then menu followed the vintage theme as well, including strawberry jello and deco cupcakes to match the invitations.

Julia, one of Celebrations' long-time event designers, took care of hanging most of the decorations for this wedding

With all the temperature changes, and cold weather, rain and unpredictable Florida climate lately, Danielle and Kris’s wedding day was  amazingly graced with perfection.  Not only did the sunshine help with the enjoyment of the outdoor portion of the reception, it uncomplicated the traveling of guests from the Baughman Center to the Thomas Center… On top of that… a clear sunny day put everyone in a splendid spring mood.  The Celebrations crew soaked up the sun’s rays while setting up the reception on the Thomas Center lawn, all grateful that it wasn’t too hot and wasn’t too cold, and wasn’t raining.  Good weather also allowed the guests to linger longer outside, enjoying the appetizers and beverages while the bride and groom were off picture taking around the beautiful grounds.

Danielle’s inspiration colors were gold, sage/celery green, and hot pink, Perfect Spring colors to decorate with on a Perfect Spring day!

After a year of lots of planning, and a year of collecting lots of sea biscuits, Naomi Manasala’s wedding was last night and it was perfect.  She and Rob married last week in the Bahamas with a smaller group of their closest friends and relatives, arriving back here in Gainesville 24 hours before their big reception.  They partied with a hundred more friends and relatives at Gainesville’s Historic Thomas Center, all decorated by Celebrations’ selecting a contemporary blend of tropical aqua, crisp white and sandy beige linens.  We added some aqua accent lighting, lots of seashells and authentic sand directly from the Bahamas, hung some paper lanterns, and concocted a mango mojito for the signature beverage.

Powers Photography spent the week in the Bahamas with the wedding party, taking hours of pictures of the week long celebration and ceremony.  The reception guests enjoyed a big screen viewing of a video presentation of the island ceremony, with Susan and Stewart Powers taking more photographs again last night, of the Thomas Center reception.

Here are some wedding moments captured by ME,… professional photos from the Stewarts’ coming soon!
